I have always loved drawing and painting people, starting out copying pictures from the Steve Roper comic strip when I was 6 or 7.What is most pleasurable to me is working from the live model.Some of my portraits are done from life and some are not.While you are browsing, for the fun of it,see if you can tell which are which.

Landscape is something I am relatively new at, having spent most of my time doing people and portraits.I am loving moving back and forth between subjects and mediums.For me it is the the stimulation of new colors,new forms,and the challenges that each medium brings to the work that keeps me fresh and engaged.The excitement of depicting the light on form what ever it may be is such a pleasure.And being outside working in the moment with the breeze and the sun/clouds is the best! If and when I have a large enough collection of these works from outside I will set up another category called Plein Air.

Still Life

There is unlimited variety in Still Life and I have barely scratched the surface of what can be done.Also I am enjoying having a set up that never moves! It's just another way to paint from life but within the comfort of the studio and in control of the light, etc.Plants do actually move so sometimes a photo is necessary to complete the work.

Ahhhh......Drawing! My first love.I have always drawn.As far back as I can remember. And I will always draw as long as I have breath! Drawing is fundamental.It can be a finished piece or a study for a painting....... the means to an end or the end itself. It can have beautiful expressive line,lovely degrees of shadow and much more.It can be a series of tiny compositional studies done quickly to map out a large painting.It can be an expression of emotion. Enjoy my drawings ....they are all done from life and I will be adding more soon.
